There are a few ways to assign a task that will be covered below:
- When creating a task in Slack
- Slack buttons and message menus
- Workast (web application)
When creating a task in Slack
The quickest way to assign a task to a team member or yourself in Slack is when you create a new task.
To create a new task in Slack, type "/todo" followed by the task details. To assign a team member when you create the task, tag the team members username.
E.g. /todo Send client invitations @sarah
This will assign the task directly to Sarah when creating the task
To assign a task to yourself when creating the task, replace the username with @me
E.g. /todo Send client invitations @me
By typing @me at the end of the task, the task will be assigned to you
Press enter to submit the task
The assigned team member will receive a direct message from todobot when they are assigned a task
To head to Workast from Slack, click on any of the blue Task IDs of the tasks in a channel
Alternatively you can login to Workast by clicking this link
This will open up the task details page in Workast
To assign a team member, click on the + button on the right hand corner of the Task Details Page and choose the team member you want to assign the task to.
This will assign the task to the team member instantly.
The team member that you assign the task to, will receive a direct message from todobot to advise them that they have been assigned a task
